Name and address of congregation: Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 450 East Thach Ave., Auburn AL (mailing address: P.O. Box 669, Auburn AL 36831)
 
Size of Congregation: 96 members
 
Size and current standing of Religious Education Program: 25 children and youth participate in a long-established RE program. Five classes for children ages 3-18 years old use a team-teaching model of at least two consistent volunteer adults in each classroom. The RE Program has strong volunteer support from parents and non-parents. The DRE position is supported by the Fellowship at large as part of the RE Long Range Plan and pledges  of financial support.
 
Time Frame: Part-time position: 15 hours per week or 4.5 units, with 3 units= approx. 10 hours/week
 
Goal: To provide professional religious leadership for a well established religious education program for children and youth; to implement the Religious Education Long Range Plan.
 
Accountability: The DRE will be supervised by and accountable to the minister.
 
Responsibilities:
With the support of the Religious Education Committee and the minister,
Develop programming that implements the RE Long Range Plan
Review, select, and prepare RE curriculum materials
Recruit, develop, support volunteers through regular contact via conversation, email updates and teacher gatherings.
Pursue program of professional growth by attending district and area religious education conferences, workshops, or other training related to DRE position
Meet with minister, RE Committee, Board to assess and review RE program
Plan celebrations and intergenerational events
Advocate for and publicize RE program through newsletter and other means
Develop youth-focused programs such as OWL, Coming of Age, Rites of Passage, etc
Be a resource for parents and families though presense, newsletter column, parent gatherings and parenting workwshops
 
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Job experience in education, counseling, youth or family human service field and/or college degree in education, counseling, youth or family human services preferred
Knowledge of and willingness to implement the AUUF RE-LRP
Willingness to explore own spirituality as well as accepting and guiding the diverse spiritual paths of others
Capable and willing to work with others; maintain and strengthen an existing RE program; manage time well; communicate clearly, effectively, punctually; able to apply training to the AUUF RE Program
Experience supervising and supporting the work of others desired
 
Compensation:
Salary: $9,602.00 per year
FICA: $734.55 per year
  
Professional education expenses: $1,000.00 per year.

AUUF Invites Applications For A Part Time Director Of Religious Education PDF Print E-mail

The Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Auburn, Alabama invites applications for a part time (15 hrs a week) Director of Religious Education. The Director of Religious Education will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and expanding the already established religious education program for a small Unitarian Universalist congregation. The applicant’s primary responsibilities will be implementing the existing Religious Education Long-Range Plan to nurture children’s and youth’s spiritual growth; working closely with volunteer adults, children and youth; assisting minister in supporting the ministry of the church; and attending UU religious education trainings and workshops.

The applicant must be able to work well with others, be committed to attending and applying UU religious education training, take initiative and work well independently, be organized and manage time well, and be able to communicate successfully. A college degree is desired. Preference given to experience in education, religious studies, counseling, or youth and family human services. Experience in supervising others is preferred, and a willingness to accept a diversity of spiritual paths is required.
